Each year, the AIA (American Institute of Architects) Committee on Design offers an international trip to its members. This time was a trip to visit the cities of Santiago and Valparaiso, Chile. Our guides were young architect interns. They impressed us with their deep knowledge and love of their country’s architectural heritage and future. Both cities offered something unique; Santiago bustling and modern; Valapariso, more traditional but also avantgarde, with its colorful and ever-present graffiti art splashed all over town.
