Each year, the AIA (American Institute of Architects) Committee on Design offers an international trip to its members. This time was a trip to visit the cities of Moscow and St. Petersburg, Russia. Our guides were young architect interns. They impressed us with their deep knowledge and love of their country’s architectural heritage and future. Both cities offered something unique; St. Petersburg is traditional and steeped in fine art and culture, while Moscow is modern and bustling, overlaid with Soviet era trappings.
