Here our efforts were, on one hand, to build the most up-to-date energy efficient house possible and, on the other hand, to fit in with the existing neighborhood.
So on the energy side, this zero net energy LEED Platinum house employs super insulation, energy efficient windows, EnergyStar appliances, water efficient plumbing fixtures, natural ventilation strategies, controlled heating and cooling zoning, a solar array and geo thermal wells.
And on the fitting-in side, we used conventional roof pitches and exterior siding materials to match those of neighboring houses but also to form the structure for our solar array and solar hot water panels.
Accessible from the second floor the lower wing is has a green roof! The first floor is 100% handicap adaptable.
