National Geographic Photo Expedition
Visiting this land had never occurred to me until we had a long-term house guest visiting from Mongolia. She shared with us her love of her beloved homeland. When National Geographic offered a photography trip there, we jumped at the chance. The vast wide-open steppes—while intimidating to some—represented freedom to me. Freedom from noise, pollution, visual clutter and the myriad eyesores of modern society. It was nothing short of soul-stirring. Despite the difficult terrain and rather trying travel conditions, this trip will be forever, one of my favorites.
